Obituary for Floyd Kumm

Floyd E. Kumm, age 97, Pittsville, passed away peacefully with family at his side on Monday, April 22, 2024, at Clark County Rehabilitation and Living Center.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at St. Joachim Catholic Church, Pittsville, with Rev. Peter Manickam officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 153 of Pittsville, with military members of the family participating, and grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. The visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, and Saturday from 9:00 am until service time at St. Joachim Catholic Church. The Knights of Columbus Maryheart Council #10522 of Pittsville will recite the rosary at 7:30 pm on Friday at the funeral home.

Floyd was born on July 12, 1926, in the Town of Dexter, Wood County, to Albert and Ula (Stetler) Kumm and was a 1943 graduate of Pittsville High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving from July of 1945, until his honorable discharge in May of 1947. He married Dolores A. Hutter on August 5, 1947, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Bakerville. She died on November 20, 2012.

Floyd was employed at Nekoosa Papers from 1955 until his retirement in 1989. He enjoyed going to the casino with Dolores, fishing, and his family, especially his grandchildren.

He was a member of St. Joachim Catholic Church, The Holy Name Society, The Knights of Columbus, and the American Legion.

He is survived by his children, Larry (Pam) Kumm of Mansfield, IL, Karen Brownell of Pittsville, Richard (Joan) Kumm of Pittsville, Dennis (Pam) Kumm of Pittsville, Theresa Bredemann of Marshfield, Kathy Brody of Kaukauna, Judy Gachnang of Vesper, Jerome (Carmen) Kumm of Pittsville, Jim Kumm (Becky) of Vesper, and Joe (Tammy) Kumm of Pittsville. He is also survived by 32 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and step great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter. He is further survived by brothers, Jerry Kumm (June Roberts) of Nekoosa and Lynn Kumm (Jan Hagen) of Lake Mary, FL, and a brother-in-law, Lloyd Young of Wisconsin Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Roger and Ronald, two sons-in-law, Kenneth Bredemann and David Gachnang, and brothers and sisters, Earnest, Verna, Irma, Elmer, Audrey, Allen, Myron, Margaret, and Marlene.
