OnFocus -A semi-trailer hauling baby red potatoes caught on fire along I-94 at mile marker 78 near Brackett in Eau Claire County at 9:38am Thursday morning.

According to Wisconsin State Patrol, the driver was able to disconnect the trailer from the tractor before the fire spread further. No one was hurt.

Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office and Highway Department assisted with traffic control while both westbound lanes were shutdown so crews could extinguish the flames. An alternate route was established for approximately 30 minutes before one westbound lane of I-94 was reopened around 10:07 a.m.

The right lane remains closed (est. 5 hour recovery) while the contents are offloaded and the damaged trailer is removed. The incident remains under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol.
