Two Injured in Wood County Head-On Collision

PORT EDWARDS, WI (OnFocus) – On 05/15/2023 at 11:21 a.m., Wood County Dispatch Center received a 911 call of a 2-vehicle head-on crash with injuries in the 6100 block of CTH Zin the Village of Port Edwards, Wood County WI.

Upon initial investigation by the Port Edwards Police Department, it was determined that a north bound vehicle crossed over the center line while negotiating a curve and entered the path of an approaching southbound vehicle causing the collision. The drivers were the only occupants in each vehicle. The driver of the northbound vehicle was transported to Marshfield Medical Center (MMC) by ground and the other driver was transported to MMC by air. The traffic crash is still under investigation by the Port Edwards Police Department. Currently, it is unknown to the extent of the two injured drivers.

Agencies assisting included the Wood County Dispatch Center, Port Edwards Police Department, Wood County Sheriff’s Department, Wood County Highway Department, Nekoosa Police Department, Wood County Rescue, Wisconsin Rapids Fire Department, Port Edwards Fire Department, Wisconsin Rapids Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol and Lifelink Ill.
