Conference outlook:

It’ll be tough to knock Neillsville off the top

However, 2-8 can be a toss-up at this point.

Owen Withee and Gilman bring back everyone from last year as well.

Loyal and Coach Rueth will have the girls playing hard and fast.

Columbus, Colby and Spencer can give us all a good fight too.

We can have good nights and bad nights, so depending on the night could determine some outcomes this season.

Keys to your success this season:

Maintain a consistent intensity on Defense.   Cut down on the turnovers.  Win the rebound and free throw contest.

Really working on taking higher percentage shots.

Behind the scenes: Who are some of the people that help your program succeed?

First, like any household.  I have my wife Tonia to thank for keeping the ship afloat from November to March.

This is my 6th year at the JV / Varsity Level and the first year where the entire program has worked through our youth and offseason programs.   I’ve also developed a common teaching goal from 4-8th grade.   That culture is now embodied in the entire program.

Six years ago I required all youth teams to play at least 20 games per season plus some Summer games.   I believe we are reaping those benefits now and hopefully into the future.

I couldn’t do this alone.  I had Evan, Shawn help with those efforts at the youth levels and they’ve progressed to the current staff.   We also had Troy Thomas, Steve Travis and a few others coaching at the youth levels, and of course we’ve had the help of so many Parents ensuring our fund raising efforts were a success.

Most importantly the girls.   We can lead a horse to water….They need to want it too!
