2023 Amherst Falcons Volleyball Season Preview
Amherst Coaching Staff:
Kim Beaudoin Head Varsity Coach
Jenni Patoka Assistant Varsity Coach
Lizz Cieslewicz Junior Varsity Coach
Payton Westor Junior Varsity 2 Coach
Returners:
We have the returning Junior, Amara Beaudoin, who will be a force defensively and offensively in any and all the positions she will be playing, her volleyball IQ is high and can make a kill anywhere she is on the court. Another seasoned veteran, senior Tatum Maves, middle hitter will be stepping up into a leadership role, she will be fantastic with her hitting and blocking.
Newcomers:
Newcomers to seeing a lot of court time this year is senior Paige Bird, she has really stepped up her game and will be a great asset to the team in her roles, and freshman Lexi Wierzba who is a talented, athletic, outside hitter will have lots of court time as well. Our back row defensive specialists, Juniors Makenna Orsund and Claire Lewallen will be a key to our success defensively. We also have many strong players who have played club and sand volleyball in the off season who will be getting a lot of playing time.
Keys to our Success this season:
We will be successful this year with the team bonding we are doing, adapting to new passing, hitting, serving forms, working hard every point, stepping up our defensive game, and continuing to be successful with our blocks and hitting.
Behind the scenes:
This is one of the first years that I can remember in Amherst High School Volleyball history that we have over a dozen girls out playing club and sand volleyball in the off season, this will definitely help with our success. Kuddos to the parents and athletes for staying active in the off season! We also had a fantastic camp with Volleyball Specialists – Taryn Vaughn.
