Conference outlook:
Girls: Our girls finished runner up to WVC Champions SPASH in 2022 by a 45 point margin closely followed by Wisconsin Rapids (3rd) and Marshfield (4th). Our conference is extremely talented and our girls are excited to see how we measure up this season. Like every year, our goal is to train consistently and remain healthy so we can perform at our best during the championship phase of our season.

Boys: Our boys were extremely young last year, but they were still a bit disappointed in their 4th place performance at the 2022 WVC Meet. We return this season with more experience and a few more miles under our belts. The boys are excited to take a few steps forward this season and see if we can’t improve upon that 4th place finish this fall.
Keys to your success this season:
Girls & Boys: Pack running is our bread and butter. It’s critical that our athletes feel vested and accountable to their teammates. It’s our job to keep kids healthy and focus on the enjoyment that can be derived from mutual purpose.

Behind the scenes: Who are some of the people that help your program succeed?

Girls & Boys: Our assistant coach for the past several years, Courtney Brown, and her husband are expecting their first child in October. Understandably, she is stepping away from coaching for the season. We are excited to have West High history teacher, Paul Clark, joining our staff for the 2023 season. Paul is a talented teacher and shares our passion for running.

Coach’s comments: anything else you’d like to share?

Rachel and I have been coaching together for 18 years and there is no such thing as a cookie-cutter season. Each team possesses their own unique culture, abilities, and challenges. We’re excited to get the 2023 season rolling and see what opportunities we can create for ourselves.
