Standing, from left to right: Zack Christensen (10), Davis Vinnedge (10), Seth Roewe (12), Aubrey Waldhauser (11), Elliott Alcott (11). Kneeling, from left to right: Dakota Hannasch (10) and Jackson Bernitt (10). Missing from the photo are Cal Birkhauser (12) and Mason Edwards (10), who were with our Columbus Catholic Boys Basketball team down at the State Tournament!
Key Newcomers:
Freshman Azaria Hoffman on the girls side in the sprints and jumps/vault. On the boys side, we have three freshmen that show promise: Devin Phillips (sprints), and Tanner Shortt and Elijah Wolf (distance). We have a few newcomers at the sophomore level on our girls team which I expect to be contributors: Jaylee Garneau, Hailey Hargraves, and Delia Trader.
Conference Outlook:
Last year, we improved our conference standing from rock bottom up to the middle of the pack. My goal is to be back there again, and perhaps even finishing higher. Teams are going to notice our rise.
Keys To Your Success This Season:
We only have a few guaranteed point scorers at this point, but we do have a very deep, supporting team behind them. If we can all elevate together, some great things will happen. I think we have enough depth to cover many events. We need to step up our game in the short sprints. I’d like to build another male thrower and high jumper. But if we can round ourselves out, cover events, and build on what we did last year, we’ll find success.
Coach’s Comments: Anything Else You’d Like To Share?
We’re going to be the best Track & Field team in the state without a track or a field 🙂
We worked really hard to build up our coaching staff this off-season so we can give our kids the attention and coaching they deserve to be great. And we were able to do that.
Columbus is coming off some very high standards following a State Basketball title. I know Columbus Baseball has those same aspirations. As a Track program, we need to keep pace and follow suit.
