2024 OnFocus Season Preview: Amherst Falcons Girls Soccer
OnFocus Season Preview
Coaching staff: Bill Spees (Head Coach), Brian Pinter (Assistant Coach)
Key returners: Claire Lewallen (Junior), Center Mid/Forward, leading scorer from 23.  Jen Omernik (Senior), Holding Midfielder.  I’m hoping Mia Cope (Junior) Forward, takes a big step up this year and contributes more in the attack.
Key newcomers: Not newcomers but sophmores now that will contribute “big time” this season – Hannah Rekowski, Midfielder and Mia Rockefeller, Center Defense/Mid fielder
Conference outlook:  Mid-Western Wisconsin Conference, we finished in the middle last year.  Assumption will still be the team to beat, with us (Amherst), Eau Claire Regis, and Adams-Friendship with the best chances of dethroning them.
Keys to your success this season:  Getting the girls to come together as a team and be there for each other.
Coach’s comments: anything else you’d like to share?  We will be a young team again this year with about 70% of our roster being underclassmen.  They have alot of atheltisism, it’s going to be interesting to see how well they can use that athletisism on the soccer field as their soccer skills and knowledge continue to improve.
