Conference outlook:
Girls:

The Pittsville Girls Track & Field team has a very good chance to be competitive in
their run for the CWC small conference team title. Many of the members of last
year’s title team remain and they will all be a huge help to score as many points as
possible. We have picked up many new faces that will be a huge asset to our team
and they are already settling into their roles which make them so important. Look
out for this team to lay everything out on the line for this title as this year would be
four in a row and it is the dream of many of our seniors to lift that trophy every
single year of their career.

Boys:

The Pittsville Boys Track and Field team shared the team title at last year’s CWC
small conference meet. They want more than anything to claim it for themselves
this year and are willing to do anything to get it. The leadership of this boys team
wants the new members to be aware of this and what it will take to make it happen.
We have many new members making up our roster this year, a majority of them
being freshmen, and they want to do their part to be a part of this TEAM. A lot of
knowledge needs to be attained by this younger crew to be prepared for the task of
claiming a title, but with the experience they will get from their peers and their
races will help them prepare for early May.

Keys to your success this season:

Many parts of this sport revolve around a few points of emphasis, a couple of the big
ones are mental strength and consistency. Before this season began the team was
told a few things that were expected of them, attendance, communication, and to
listen to one another. These will be building blocks to help this team achieve
success. Along with the expectations of them there are things that I wanted for
them and that is to be happy, healthy, and learning. As long as the members of the
team are at practice they will learn, as long as they are listening to their body they
will be healthy, and if they are communicating with and listening to one another and
their coaches they will be happy. These important building blocks of success will
allow them to become mentally strong in a sport that relies on the mind just as
much as the body. All these things combined and happening on a regular basis will
bring a level of consistency that will translate over to the preparation for meets and
from there to the meets themselves. So what are our key to success?…Consistently
being together as a team and helping one another.
