The 27th Annual Make-A-Wish Truck Convoy Raises $34,100 to Grant 6 Wishes for Local Children

NEILLSVILLE, WI (OnFocus) – In a heartwarming show of support for children with critical illnesses, the 27th Annual Make-A-Wish Truck Convoy, held in memory of Jim Hetze and Todd Schonfeldt Sr, achieved a remarkable milestone this year. The event, which took place on June 8, 2024, raised an impressive $34,100, all of which went directly towards making dreams come true for children in need through the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

This year’s convoy successfully raised enough funds to grant six life-changing wishes for children facing severe medical challenges:

  1. Asher (9, from Wausau) – Went to Oahu, Hawaii.
  2. Trevett (3, from Mosinee) – Visited Walt Disney World® Resort.
  3. Mackenzie (3, from Stratford) – Visited Walt Disney World® Resort.
  4. Conner (8, from Osseo) – Visited Walt Disney World® Resort.
  5. Zackery (4, from Tomah) – Visited Walt Disney World® Resort.
  6. Camron (11, from Loyal) – Got his very own treehouse.

Each of these wishes represents more than just a special experience; it was a chance for these children and their families to create unforgettable memories and find joy amid their challenging journeys.

Making Dreams Come True

The success of this event is a testament to the community’s unwavering generosity and the dedication of individuals like Punk Montgomery, who has been instrumental in organizing the convoy year after year. The letter from Make-A-Wish Wisconsin expressed heartfelt gratitude, noting that “the $34,100 you raised is helping hundreds of kids feel stronger, more energetic, and more willing to battle their illnesses.”

A Growing Impact

Currently, over 450 children in Wisconsin are waiting for their wishes to come true. Events like the Truck Convoy are vital in making these dreams a reality, providing not only joy but also renewed hope and strength to the children and their families. The impact is clear: 9 out of 10 children who receive a wish report feeling a sense of joy and renewed confidence, which positively influences their overall well-being.
