The DOT is in the process of reviewing a single bid that was received for the HWY 97/N. Central Ave. road repair project from Arnold to Harrison Street.

The highly-anticipated project was originally delayed in May due to a single bid that came in higher than expected. Contract terms were then adjusted to have greater schedule flexibility in hopes of attracting more bidders.

The letting process was then scheduled for November and bids were due halfway through December. A representative from DOT was able to confirm that the letting process was moved to December 11 but could not state the reason for the delay at this time. The DOT will determine internally if they will award the project to the bidder. Information on the status will be made the first week or two of January.

Mayor Bob McManus stated he was in contact with the chief engineer of the project and was recently informed that the bid came in 8-9% over the bid that had been submitted in May. He said at this time there is no recommendation to change the project and the City will wait until the DOT is finished with their internal process for the single bid before taking additional steps.
