Keys to your success this season: We have solid returning talent only graduating 1 goaltender and 1 forward after last season. The WVU will be a team who’s hard to beat. We will compete, battle, and make opponents earn it. We have some players who have been working hard in the off season and I predict big seasons from players who may have previously flown under the radar. There will be teams who underestimate us and we look forward to a challenge with a mix of conference and non-conference opponents.
The WVU high school girls hockey team is a co-op of Stevens Point, WI Rapids, Marshfield, and Waupaca communities. Last season the team finished with a record of 9-15 overall. Standout recognition would go to Jenna Jones who was first team all conference and 2nd team all state. She finished the season with 32 points and looks to have a strong senior year campaign.
The team graduated one forward and one goaltender but welcomed 5 new freshmen. The effort and grit this team shows will make them tough to play against. WVU is looking at having a more experienced team with deep leadership. The goaltending battle will be exciting and the experience they gained last season will help push the team forward.
There will be some new faces to the roster this season each with something special to bring to the table. Reese Simcakoski is a newcomer to keep your eye on. She is a great addition to the WVU and has quickly elevated herself.
9-15 Last season was a step in the right direction from a 2022-23 season where the team was 4-20. WVU will continue to make strides forward this year with a solid schedule filled with competition. We are competing in the eastern shore conference and will play in the Winter Culver Cup Tournament.
