A Closer Look at Marshfield Tigers’ Grad and Standout Student-Athlete Danielle Minsaas: Pancakes or Waffles?

Marshfield Tigers’ graduate and standout multi-sport student athlete Danielle was a force for the Tigers in her high school career. We caught up with Minsaas to gain an inside look at what makes her ‘tick’ with our world-famous student-athlete. The question everyone wants to know: Pancakes or Waffles? Read on to find the truth…

OnFocus:What subjects/classes have been your favorite, and why? 
Minsaas: History- History is a hard subject to understand but the teachers have always made if fun and easy.
OnFocus: What do you enjoy most about competing in front of family, friends and fans? 
Minsaas:For me it was never about the people watching. It has always been about competing as a team and working hard for the goals you’ve set for yourself.  
OnFocusWhat are your hobbies? 
Minsaas: Anything sports related and reading
OnFocus: Who is/was your first favorite teacher and why? 
Minsaas: Mrs.Leonhardt- She is easy to relate to and she makes learning fun
OnFocus: What is the most unusual food you have eaten? 
Minsaas:Shark- Ifs not that unusual but it tasted really good
OnFocus: What is your favorite music to listen to? 
Minsaas: Country is always my go to, but let’s be real, rap before games is the best hype music.  
OnFocus:  What are your plans after high school? 
Minsaas: I will be playing basketball and running track at the University of Sioux Falls where I’ll major in crime justice and pre-law. 
OnFocus:  If they made a movie about you, and your life,  what would it be called?
Minsaas: Spontaneous
OnFocus: What sports did you play throughout your high school career? 
Minsaas: TennisBasketball-Track-Figure skating
OnFocus: Which teammate would you not want to be stranded with on a deserted
island?
Minsaas: Zaida Kolbeck
OnFocus:  What are some memorable moments you have had as an athlete?
Minsaas: All the team events that we did throughout all seasons, but my greatest memory is the Christmas tournament for basketball
OnFocus:  Who are your favorite athletes and/or teams? 
Minsaas: Steph Curry/Lamelo Ball/Riley Gaines 
 
OnFocus: What do you enjoy most about competing in front of family, friends and fans? 
Minsaas:For me it was never about the people watching. It has always been about competing as a team and working hard for the goals you’ve set for yourself.  
OnFocus:  Do you have a funny or unusual moment(s) you have experienced in 
sports? 
Minsaas: I got a bloody nose during a basketball game we we put cotton balls in my nose so I  could keep playing  
  
 
OnFocus: What’s the best thing about being a student-athlete?
Minsaas: Getting to leave class early 😉 
  
 
OnFocus:  What words of wisdom can you give to other student athletes?
Minsaas: Try to do anything you can whether it’s sports or clubs and to remember mistakes are  supposed to happen in high school
