OnFocus: What subjects/classes have been your favorite, and why?

Zarins: Favorite class would have to be anything that I can use my hands to learn. Like woodworking or welding. 

OnFocus: What’s the best thing about being a student-athlete?

Zarins: Being a role model in the school or after practice visit with the little kids practice and help them, teach them something new that will hopefully make them better athletes.

OnFocus: What are your hobbies?

Zarins: Hunting, Fishing, camping, working on motors 

OnFocus: Who is/was your first favorite teacher and why?


Zarins: Travis Engel he has the patience level of a Saint and he has a passion of helping kids be introduced into the trades

OnFocus: What is the most unusual food you have eaten?

 Carolina Reapers 

OnFocus: What is your favorite music to listen to?

Zarins: Rock or older country like Waylon Jennings

OnFocus:  What are your plans after high school?

Zarins: Entering the workforce 

OnFocus:  If they made a movie about you, and your life,  what would it be called?

Zarins: Be Kind 

OnFocus: What sports did you play throughout your high school career?

Zarins: Football, Wrestling, Basketball, Track and Field and Baseball

OnFocus: Which teammate would you not want to be stranded with on a deserted island?

Zarins: A certain lineman, he is the definition of calorie consumption 

OnFocus:  What are some memorable moments you have had as an athlete?

Zarins:  Winning the conference championship in football, going to state for wrestling many times and having the honor to play in all star football games. 

OnFocus:  Who are your favorite athletes and/or teams?

Zarins: Green Bay Packers all day 

OnFocus: What do you enjoy most about competing in front of family, friends and fans?

Zarins:  I love competing but I don’t really think about competing in front of others. It’s more of the pride I have and the name on the front of the jersey.

OnFocus:  Do you have a funny or unusual moment(s) you have experienced in sports?

A former lineman from the Owen Withee Blackhawks, he got stuck in a tractor tire during practice.

OnFocus: What’s the best thing about being a student-athlete?

Zarins: Being a role model in the school or after practice visit with the little kids practice and help them, teach them something new that will hopefully make them better athletes. 

OnFocus:  What words of wisdom can you give to other student-athletes?

Zarins:Be kind, respectful if you are a great leader you don’t need to be 6’8″ monster of a man and fast as a cheetah you just need to have a good heart and do what’s right no matter what, and it won’t be easy but it’ll be worth it.

OnFocus: Lastly, pancakes or waffles?

Zarins: Pancakes especially the football kind if you know what I mean, especially us lineman.
