Voters came out in huge numbers to support top performances by area athletes for the period of January 21 – January 27! When the dust settled, it was the closest vote of the 2023-24 season, with Abbotsford Girls Basketball’s Sydney Falteisek claiming the title of OnFocus Athlete of the Week, January 21-27 with 297 votes.
Edgar Boys Wrestling’s Harrison Graveen earned second place with 294 votes.
Third place was collected by Kyla Krause of Medford Gymnastics with 263 votes.
Fourth place went to Brady Schmidt of Stratford Boys Basketball(206 votes) and fifth place was earned by Ayden Phillips of Almond-Bancroft Boys Basketball(179 votes)
OnFocus Athlete of the Week, January 21 – January 27
- Kyla Krause, Medford Gymnastics(nominated online) – Krause claimed the All-Around, Vault and Floor Titles at a GNC Triangular Meet with Antigo and Mosinee last week. Krause came back from a bad ankle sprain and has now crushed her previous record for all around.
- Ayden Phillips, Almond-Bancroft Boys Basketball – Phillips tied the Almond-Bancroft school record with a 44 point outburst in the Eagles’ 70-53 win over Weyauwega-Fremont.
- Sydney Falteisek, Abbotsford Girls Basketball – Falteisek led the Falcons to a 49-47 win over Columbus Catholic, and topped the 1,000 point mark for her Falcons’ career in the process.
- Harrison Graveen, Edgar Boys Wrestling – Graveen picked up the Marawood Conference Championship at 285 for Edgar, earning a pair of pins(13 seconds, 4:35).
- Brady Schmidt, Stratford Boys Basketball – Schmidt had a big game for the Tigers in their 82-50 win over Colby. The senior connected on eight of 12 three-pointers and scored 26 points in the win.
