Abbotsford (OnFocus) – After some near misses at picking up their first win of the season, Monday night proved to be the charm, as Abbotsford came out on top in a see-saw affair with Greenwood, picking up a 47-40 win.
Greenwood took a 17- 13 lead just ten minutes into the game before Abbotsford’s intensity picked up and took over. Mason Carpenter and Cade Faber took control on the offensive end and a 10-0 run sparked the Falcons. Trailing 29-25 at the half, a win seemed possible for Abbotsford.
8 minutes into the second half, Greenwood’s lead was 35-34, and another big run proved to be the difference maker for Abby.
Cade Faber’s basket at the 7 minute mark and coast to coast lay-in started Abbotsford on the run, giving the home team a 43-35 lead. Greenwood clawed back to within 3 at 43-40 with two minutes to go. The Falcons’ defense kept Greenwood at bay, however, and Abby picked up its first win.
Carpenter and Faber each had 15 points to lead the Falcons.
Faber pulled down 19 rebounds for Abbotsford.
