Abbotsford (OnFocus) – Leading 9-3 early on in their Marawood matchup with Abbotsford, the Stratford Tigers’ Breanna Ackley showed everyone in attendance the kind of night she was going to have. A two minute stretch saw Ackley score 8 points and proved to be unstoppable as the Tigers cruised to a 55-43 win over the Falcons.
Stratford led 29-13 at the half, but it was the Falcons that came out storming after the break.
Abbotsford scored the first six points, with an energetic defense shutting the Tigers down. Sydney Falteisek’s block appeared to fuel the Falcons’ fire, but in the blink of an eye, Abbotsford saw the game get out of reach.
After being shut out for the first four minutes, the Tigers turned to Ackley to get things going. The Ackley scoring machine was fueled and ready to fire, and the next five minutes saw a performance unlike most have ever seen.
Ackley’s bucket at the 14 minute mark lifted the lid off the basket for the Tigers, and the senior wing then proceeded to score 14 straight point in five minutes. Stratford’s lead mushroomed to 45-19 with 9 minutes to go, and gave the Tigers all they would need for the win.
Ackley finished with 30 points and sat out the rest of the half, collecting five three-pointers in the game.
Mya Ruesch had 12 points and Sydney Falteisek scored 10 for Abbotsford.
