MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFOCUS) – A police situation that started Wednesday afternoon and spanned into Thursday afternoon has now been resolved.
A release issued by Marshfield Police Chief Pat Zeps addressed the situation: “The Marshfield Police Department had responded to a residence in the area of Popp Avenue from Mann Street to Spencer Street in reference to an individual making homicidal statements. The individual has been taken into custody without incident and the area is now clear for normal travel. The Marshfield Police Department would like to thank the Wood County Sherriff’s Department, the Marathon County Sherriff’s Department, and the Wisconsin State Patrol for their assistance in this matter.”
Zeps earlier on Thursday shared these details of the situation:
“The Marshfield Police Department has responded to a residence in the area of Popp Avenue from Mann Street to Spencer Street in reference to an individual making homicidal statements. The individual exited his residence with what appeared to be a long-barreled rifle. Upon being confronted by officers, the individual retreated back into his residence.”
Marshfield Police were assisted by the Wood County Sheriff’s Department, Marathon County Sheriff’s Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, Marathon County Crisis Center and Marshfield Fire and Rescue Department throughout the duration of the situation.
