Fleet Farm Holding Donation Drive for MAPS
Marshfield, WI (OnFocus) Marshfield Area Pet Shelter will take part in a nationwide adoption drive that aims to “Clear the Shelters.”
On August 17 from 11-1, the shelter will be present at Fleet Farm along with a litter of eight puppies, which were taken in along with their mother after the previous owner was no longer able to care for her.
“We do not know much about her history, other than the fact that she is very good mom to her eight puppies!” said Karen Rau, volunteer Executive Director. “We suspect they will be medium-sized short-haired mixes, based on mom’s appearance.”
MAPS will also bring any other dogs available for adoption at that time.
“We don’t have open hours at our intake facility where our dogs are housed, so this is a great opportunity for families to meet our dogs!” said Rau. “We have an abundance of cats and kittens right now and we welcome the public to come visit them at our Adoption Center inside Marshfield Mall Monday-Friday 4:30-6:00 and Saturday 11:00-2:00.”
As part of the promotion, through the end of August, Fleet Farm has partnered with Hill’s Science Diet pet food brand to host a donation drive for the shelter’s most-needed pet supplies, which include Hill’s Science Diet puppy food and Adult 11+ or Sensitive Stomach & Skin cat food.
Donations aren’t limited to the brand and can be any animal-related item. Donors can fill out their name on a paper bone for display at the service desk.
“Events such as this provide much needed food for our animals, generates awareness for the shelter, promotes our adoptable pets and saves us hundreds of dollars a year on food that we do not have to purchase with our own funds,” said Rau.
To promote the cause, the store received a special visit by Muenster, now called Oscar, one of the puppies rescued from a Marshfield dumpster in February.
