Marshfield, WI (OnFocus) The 72nd Alice in Dairyland Abigail Martin has jumped head-first into her new role, traveling Wisconsin in her corn-powered E85 vehicle to promote agriculture’s diverse industries.
“I try to be a cheerleader for all of our industries. I’m talking with farmers and trying to learn their passions and why they do what they do, and then sharing that,” she said.
Though America’s dairyland, Wisconsin is also a big producer of Christmas trees, ginseng, cranberries, and even milk goats.
“Diversity is really Wisconsin agriculture’s strength,” she said.
Martin grew up on a family-owned, fourth-generation dairy farm north of Janesville and started her position in June. Over the next year, she will travel about 30,000 miles attending events and giving interviews.
