Almond-Bancroft Girls Basketball’s Mya Dernbach earned the title of OnFocus Athlete of the week, February 11 – February 17, picking up 203 votes.
Taking second place was Auburndale Boys Wrestling’s Colton Weiler with 146 votes.
Third place went to Carter Freeman of Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln Boys Wrestling with 128 votes.
Fourth place was earned by Caleb Dennee of Marshfield Boys Wrestling with 100 votes.
OnFocus Athlete of the Week, February 11 – February 17
- David Mayer, D.C. Everest Boys Swimming – Mayer picked up a pair of first place finishes in both the 50 and 100 freestyles with times of 20.34 and 44.29, respectively at at the WIAA Division 1 Boys Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday. His time in 100 freestyle is the fifth-fastest time ever recorded in the event at the State Meet, and his 50 freestyle time ranks seventh.
- Carter Freeman, Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln Boys Wrestling – Freeman earned the #1 seed at 126 pounds in the WIAA Boys State Wrestling Tournament.
- Mya Dernbach, Almond-Bancroft Girls Basketball(nominated online) – Dernbach produced a pair of outstanding games last week, scoring 31 points in the Eagles’ 56-40 win over Auburndale, and had 26 points in A-B’s win over Gresham. Dernbach had 13 steals, 6 three-pointers and was a perfect 11 of 11 from the free throw line in the two games.
- Caleb Dennee, Marshfield Boys Wrestling – Dennee heads to the WIAA Division 1 Boys State Tournament as the #1 seed at 165 pounds.
- Colton Weiler, Auburndale Boys Wrestling – Weiler heads to the WIAA Division 3 Boys Wrestling State Tournament as the #1 seed at 144 pounds.
