Altrusa Club Receives Literacy Award

MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – Altrusa Club of Marshfield was awarded the Letha H Brown Literacy award for their Make A Day service project. The club received 1350 books from the estate of former member Diane Mueller and were distributed to 12 free libraries in the Marshfield area. A map of free libraries was created and was made available at Marshfield Area Chamber of Commerce as well as the Everett Roehl Marshfield Public Library. Additionally, books were presented to several organizations who interact with children.

The Club was also awarded second place for welcoming 12 new members this past year, and also second place for a net gain of 10 members.

District 7 Altrusa International District Governor Ingrid Christianson presented the award and $100 during the District 7 conference held in Oshkosh the end of April. Eight members of the Marshfield Club attended including President Grace Bauer, Vice President Laura Drendel, Treasurer Stephana Scholzen and Board members Brenda Baer and Deb Kirsenlohr.
