American Legion Volunteers Clean Veterans Park’s Historic Cobra Helicopter

MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – Members of American Legion Post 54 in Marshfield recently cleaned the exterior of the historic AH-IS “Cobra” Helicopter located in Veterans Park (206 W Park Street).

American Legion Adjutant Mike Feirer said that the helicopter is cleaned when there is a need. To remove the mossy growth on the exterior, members utilized a forklift, gentle pressure washer, and vinegar to safely and carefully bring the helicopter back to its former glory.

A tribute to all veterans, the park welcomed the attack helicopter in May 1997, with assistance from American Legion Post 54, VFW Post 1866, VVA Chapter 549, and DAV Chapter 57.
