Learn more about Edgar Wildcats grad andstandout multi-sport student athlete Reagan Borchardt, with our world-famous interview: ‘Pancakes or Waffles?’

OnFocus: What subjects/classes have been your favorite, and why?

Borchardt: My favorite subjects/classes were anything science related. I really enjoyed biology and chemistry because we learned all about plants and animals and their anatomy but also what everything else in the world is made up of. These classes provided a lot of hands-on opportunities to learn about those subjects which I also really liked.

OnFocus:  What words of wisdom can you give to other student-athletes?

Borchardt: Words of wisdom that I can give to other student athletes is to work for what you want. Don’t expect to be a great athlete if you don’t put the time and effort into that sport. Greatness isn’t a given thing, as much as put into it, is as much as you’ll get out.

OnFocus: What are your hobbies?

Borchardt: My main hobbies include working on my family farm and hanging out with friends and family.

OnFocus: What is your favorite music to listen to?

Borchardt: My favorite music to listen to is country music.

OnFocus:  What are your plans after high school?

Borchardt: After high school, I plan on going to University of Wisconsin River Falls. I am not totally sure on what I want to major in but I am starting my first semester majoring in a generalized animal science.

OnFocus:  If they made a movie about you, and your life,  what would it be called?

Borchardt: If they made a movie about me during my years of high school, it would be called “The girl who was always late for the game bus because her sister has awful time management.”

OnFocus: What sports did you play throughout your high school career?

Borchardt: Sports that I played throughout my high school career included volleyball, basketball, and softball.

OnFocus: Which teammate would you not want to be stranded with on a deserted island?

Borchardt: A teammate that I would not want to be stranded on a deserted island with would probably be my sister because she would drive me crazy and she burps a lot.

OnFocus:  What are some memorable moments you have had as an athlete?

Borchardt: A few memorable moments that I have had as an athlete was competing in the sectional final game in all three sports I participated in. In my junior year of softball season, we played Sevestopol at Plover in a sectional final game. In my senior year of both volleyball and basketball, we also played in a sectional final game. For volleyball, we played against Wittenberg-Birnamwood in Auburndale and in basketball, we played Laona-Wabeno in Rhinelander. The reason that these three games are so memorable is because the support that the Edgar community showed us was incredible. Throughout all of those playoff runs, the gym/softball diamond had more fans as the games went on. It was honestly such a cool experience to play in front of all those people who have been supporting us since we were little.

OnFocus:  Who are your favorite athletes and/or teams?

Borchardt: My favorite team is the Wisconsin Badger volleyball team.

OnFocus:  Do you have a funny or unusual moment(s) you have experienced in sports?

Borchardt: One funny moment that I remember from my sophomore year of volleyball was when my coach, Evan Krebsbach, split his pants. Something Evan is known for is his energy on the side lines. I remember we were at a home game and we got the point. Evan must’ve jumped up and done the splits because his pants split right down the middle. He ran out of the gym, into the lobby, and came back with a blue sweatshirt wrapped around his waist. The whole gym was laughing hysterically.

OnFocus: What’s the best thing about being a student-athlete?

Borchardt: The best thing about being a student athlete is that you can make and grow so many friendships that you don’t necessarily have the time to do in school alone.

OnFocus: Lastly, pancakes or waffles?

Borchardt: Pancakes
