MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – The Marshfield Fire and Rescue Department continues to benefit from the generosity of a local couple whose anonymous donations have helped save lives in the community. In their latest act of kindness, the couple donated a fourth Lucas CPR device to the department, providing paramedics and EMTs with advanced life-saving equipment.

Lucas CPR devices are mechanical chest compression machines that perform high-quality, consistent CPR, allowing emergency responders to focus on other critical interventions during cardiac arrest emergencies. These machines, which now cost over $20,000 each, play a vital role in improving survival rates.

According to the department, crews using these devices in 2023 were able to help save 11 individuals who were clinically dead after their hearts stopped. This remarkable success highlights the impact of these donations in Marshfield and surrounding areas.

Each donated Lucas device has been given a name by the donors, with the newest addition proudly named “Pax.” The department expressed its gratitude for the couple’s continued support, recognizing how their generosity has played a crucial role in the community’s emergency response efforts.

“We feel privileged to serve this community, and we are equally fortunate to have the support of generous and caring residents who are essential to our life-saving mission,” the Marshfield Fire and Rescue Department shared in a statement.

The department and the community extend their heartfelt appreciation to these anonymous benefactors for their life-saving contributions.
