Arrest of Stevens Point School District Staff Member Unrelated to Threat Incidents

Update:

P.J. Jacobs Junior High special education teacher Jo Leung Pang, 40, was arrested for second-degree sexual assault of a child for having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old.

His bond was set at $15,000 and Pang cannot have contact with any minor unless supervisor, and cannot be within 500 feet of any school.

A hearing has been scheduled for Jan. 6.

The Stevens Point School District stated to parents Thursday morning that a staff member has been arrested, but the arrest is not related to recent threat incidents.

The school has placed the individual on paid administrative leave while pending the investigation. No more information was able to be released while the investigation is active.

On Dec. 12, a threat of violence was found written on a bathroom stall at Ben Franklin Junior High School leading to school cancellation the next day. Additional threats found at SPASH on Dec. 13 led to its early dismissal. On Dec. 18, a bomb threat led to the swift arrest of a 17-year-old male as well as charges against a 15-year-old male as a party to the crime.
