Marshfield, WI (OnFocus) Three arrests have been made in the case of a bomb threat written on bathroom stall at Marshfield High School on Dec. 17.
An 18-year-old male was arrested for a felony charge of making terroristic threats, and two 17-year-old males were arrested for party to a crime for terroristic threats.
All three subjects were transported to the Wood County Jail. Charges are being requested through the Wood County DA’s office.
A threat discovered on a boys’ bathroom stall on Tuesday, Dec. 17 stated a bomb would go off on 1 p.m. that day, leading to the early dismissal of high school students at 11:30 a.m. as a precaution. No bombs or other threats were discovered during a police sweep of the building. The threat was never believed to be credible.
Update: The second threat found on Dec. 10 on a boys’ bathroom stall is still under investigation. The message stated, “I think there is a school shooter threat Dec. 19.”
The third threat indicated a bomb threat at 1 p.m. under the library with a date of 12-17-19. Three males were arrested.
The school will again resume normally on Thursday, Dec. 19. No evidence has been discovered that would indicate any of the threats are viable. The school district is providing extra counselors at the high school and will maintain an increased law enforcement presence the rest of this week.
These types of safety threats can lead to school expulsion through age 21 and felony charges under Wisconsin State Statute 947.019.
