Marshfield – Central Wisconsin is filled with top performers who are excelling and standing out above the rest.
The race for the OnFocus Team of the Week, February 14 – February 20, saw Assumption Girls Basketball race out ahead of the pack and hold on, collecting 365 votes to earn first place.
Medford Gymnastics collected 193 votes to earn second place. Third place went to Neillsville Boys Basketball, which had 126 votes.
OnFocus Team of the Week Nominees, February 14 – February 20
- SPASH Gymnastics – SPASH took first at the La Crosse Sectional on Saturday, earning a berth to the WIAA Team State Gymnastics Meet Saturday at Wisconsin Rapids. The Panthers had five top 5 finishes at sectionals.
- Assumption Girls Basketball – Assumption is headed to state, and the Royals took care business in sectional play. Assumption downed Independence in the sectional semifinal, 63-49 before dominating against top seeded Wauzeka-Steuben 63-49 in the sectional final.
- Medford Gymnastics – Medford is headed to the WIAA State Gymnastics Meet after dominating at the Rhinelander Sectionals. Medford claimed 11 top five finishes at sectionals and is primed for success at the Division 2 State Meet at La Crosse.
- Edgar Boys Basketball – The Edgar boys are headed to sectional play after taking care of business in regional play. Edgar handled Abbotsford in the regional semifinal before earning a berth in the sectionals with a 50-38 win over Marathon.
- Neillsville Boys Basketball – Neillsville picked up a pair of close wins in regional action to advance to sectionals. Neillsville downed Stanley-Boyd 61-50 in the sectional semifinal before edging Stratford 38-36 in the regional final.
