Area voters came out in big numbers to support top local student athletes for their excellent performances.
Picking up the title of OnFocus Athlete of the Week, April 30 to May 6 was Danica Diethelm of Athens Softball, collecting 410 votes.
Finishing a close second was Kesea Giese of Pacelli, who collected 386 votes.
Third place went to Rhiannon Carroll of Wisconsin Rapids Softball who had 284 votes.
OnFocus Athlete of the Week, April 30 – May 6
- Danica Diethelm, Athens Softball – Diethelm struck out 14 batters in the Bluejays’ 6-1 Marawood Conference win over Phillips.
- Rhiannon Carroll, Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln Softball – Carroll collected 4 hits and 5 RBI as the Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln Raiders defeated Merrill 15-5 in WVC softball.
- Laney Pankratz, Stratford Softball – Pankratz struck out 11 and gave up just one hit in Stratford’s 5-0 shutout of Auburndale.
- Sarah Shaw, Assumption Soccer – Shaw scored four goals for the Royals in their 8-0 win over Mauston.
- Kesea Giese, Pacelli Softball – Giese went 2X4, scoring three runs and slammed two home runs, including a grand slam as Pacelli thumped Tri-County 23-1 in CWC Softball. Giese collected 7 RBI on the evening.
