The Athens Bluejays defeated Newman in a Marawood Conference softball slugfest, 12-8. The teams combined for 27 hits.
Danica Diethelm picked up the win for Athens, and Ashley Jankowski took the loss for Newman.
Sophia Coker and Celina Ellenbecker each had three hits for the Bluejays.
Paige Guld had three hits for the Cardinals.
