Voting for the OnFocus Athlete of the Week saw big numbers come out to show support for top performances by student athletes.
Taking the title as the OnFocus Athlete of the Week, September 18 to September 24 with 401 votes was Kyler Ellenbecker of Athens Football.
Medford Cross Country’s Meredith Richter took second place with 363 votes.
- Edgar Football’s Teegan Streit was third with 204 votes
- Kailyn Grossman of Pittsville Cross Country had 186 votes
- Logan Amacher of Owen-Withee Football received 179 votes
OnFocus Athlete of the Week, September 18 – September 24
- Teegan Streit, Edgar Football – The Wildcats improved to 5-1 with a 40-7 win over Abbotsford, and Streit had a monster game. Streit’s 75 yard punt return for a touchdown gave Edgar the lead for good at 12-7, and Streit then had touchdown throws of 52 yards to Brett Baumgartner, to go with 46 yard and 85 yard strikes to Leyton Schuett. Streit was an efficient 5 of 7 for 241 yards.
- Logan Amacher, Owen-Withee Football – O-W moved into a two-way tie with Thorp for first place in the 8 Player CWC East with a 30-14 win over previously unbeaten Gilman. Amacher came up big for the Blackhawks, rushing for 216 yards on 22 carries and three touchdowns, and also had two interceptions.
- Kailyn Grossman, Pittsville Girls CC – Grossman took medalist honors at the Assumption Cross Country Invite on Thursday.
- Meredith Richter, Medford Girls Cross Country – Richter finished second overall, out of 454 competitors, at the University of Minnesota Roy Griak Cross Country Invitational on Saturday. The Medford girls finished 12th out of 50 teams at the meet.
- Kyler Ellenbecker, Athens Football – The Bluejays’ senior quarterback had a night to remember in Athens’ 74-36 win over Alma Center Lincoln. Ellenbecker ran for four touchdowns(50, 27, 62 and 17 yards) and threw for three more touchdowns(5, 15 and 24 yards.) Ellenbecker rushed for 462 yards and added 56 yards passing in his record-breaking performance.
