We take a look at Athens’ multi-sport student athlete Sophia Coker,  and the senior standout answers all of the serious and not so serious questions with our world-famous interview: ‘Pancakes or Waffles?’ Read on to find out just what makes Coker ‘tick.’

OnFocus: What are your favorite subjects/classes and why?

Coker: My favorite class is English because I really enjoy reading and writing papers.

OnFocus: What words of wisdom can you give to other student-athletes?

Coker: Stick with it and cherish every moment of every day.

OnFocus: What are your hobbies?

Coker: My hobbies include watching or playing sports, hanging with family and friends, and
going up north.

OnFocus: Who is/was your first favorite teacher and why?

Coker: Mrs. Diedrich was my favorite teacher because as much as I hate math, she would
make it easier to understand and a little more enjoyable.

OnFocus: What is the most unusual food you have eaten?

Coker: Clams

OnFocus: What is your favorite music to listen to?

Coker: My music depends on the mood I am in that day but usually rap, preferably Drake.

OnFocus: What are your plans after high school?

Coker: I plan to attend UW-LaCrosse for elementary education.

OnFocus: OnFocus: If they made a movie about you, and your life, what would it be called?

Coker: “I’m Just a Girl”

OnFocus: What sports do you play?

Coker: I play volleyball, basketball, and softball.

OnFocus:  Which teammate would you not want to be stranded with on a deserted
island?

Coker: Danica Diethelm

OnFocus: What are some memorable moments you have had as an athlete?

Coker: Being able to play with my twin sister is probably my all time favorite part about high school sports but I will never forget my junior year when we went to state in volleyball. The atmosphere that whole week, from the practices preparing us to the support we had throughout the whole season, it was so special and truly unforgettable. It is
amazing seeing a little town come together for such a fun reason.

OnFocus: Who are your favorite athletes and/or teams?

Coker: My favorite athletes are Sarah Franklin and Caitlin Clark. I also love watching Badger Volleyball and the Bucks.

OnFocus: What do you enjoy most about competing in front of family, friends and fans?

Coker: The rush I feel knowing it’s all love and support from my favorite people.

OnFocus: Do you have a funny or unusual moment(s) you have experienced in
sports?

Coker:I think the funniest moments I’ve experienced during sports are in the showers after games. Slip and slides, wall surfing, and laughing til our tummies hurt.

OnFocus: What’s the best thing about being a student-athlete at Athens High School?

Coker: Being able to bring friendships from the classroom to the court and spending so much time together with my best friends that we have absolutely nothing left to talk about.

OnFocus: What words of wisdom can you give to other student-athletes?

Coker: Stick with it and cherish every moment of every day.

OnFocus:  Lastly, pancakes or waffles?

Coker: Waffles
