Among the standout contributors was second-grader Parker Haas, who raised $1,745. His journey was filled with hard work and dedication as he mowed grass, trimmed plants, sorted bolts and nuts, organized desks, swept staircases, and baked dozens of cookies, muffins, and bread. Parker, with help from his parents, personally delivered most of these goods to everyone’s doorstep. Parker’s exceptional dedication and outstanding achievement were celebrated during a school assembly, where he was awarded the title of “Top Earner” for his remarkable efforts.

The primary objective of the Knowledge Quest was to raise funds to provide essential resources and experiences for the students throughout the school year. These funds are allocated for classroom materials, playground equipment, enriching field trips, engaging presenters, and addressing various needs that arise within the school.

This year’s ambitious fundraising goal was set at $6,000, and to add a bit of excitement, Wood County Deputy Kristine Beatheard made a special commitment. Deputy Beatheard agreed to be “taped to the wall” if the students managed to reach their fundraising goal, further motivating the young participants.

Knowledge Quest operates on a unique model. Teachers from each grade level design 10 questions that align with the curriculum, creating a quiz tailored to their students’ level of learning. The students then seek pledges from family and friends, and their dedication is put to the test by the PTO members. The students earn funds based on their pledge amounts and the number of questions they answer correctly.

This year’s achievement was truly remarkable, as the students went above and beyond by raising $11,139.01, significantly exceeding their initial goal of $6,000.

In recognition of the students’ dedication and the generous support from their families and the community, the PTO organized several rewards:

  • Popcorn Parties: The grade that raised the most money and showed exceptional participation would be treated to a lively popcorn party.
  • Pizza Parties: The classes that raised the most money and demonstrated high participation would receive delicious pizza parties.
  • Extra Recess: The top earners from each grade were rewarded with an extra recess for their entire class.

Additionally, the event featured a captivating prize wheel that added an element of excitement and fun to the fundraiser. To honor the top contributors, the four students who raised the most funds received monetary prizes:

  1. 1st Place: $100
  2. 2nd Place: $75
  3. 3rd Place: $50
  4. 4th Place: $25

The success of Auburndale Elementary School’s Knowledge Quest 2023 would not have been possible without the unwavering dedication of students, the support of their families, and the commitment of the community. The event exemplifies the spirit of collaboration and the pursuit of educational excellence at Auburndale Elementary School.
