Sports fans throughout the area came out in big numbers to show their support for the area’s top performers. Picking up the title of OnFocus Athlete of the Week, September 8 – September 14 was Auburndale Football’s Colton Weiler with 329 votes. Finishing right behind in second place with 323 votes was Stanley-Boyd Football’s Carter Isenberger.
Third place was earned by Charlie Gierl of Medford Football with 244 votes.
Fourth place picked up by Port Edwards Football’s Max Michels, who had 191 votes. Brooks Hinson of Marshfield Football took fifth place with 126 votes.
OnFocus Athlete of the Week, September 8 – September 14
- Carter Isenberger, Stanley-Boyd Football – The Orioles earned a hard-fought win over Mondovi to remain tied for first place in the Cloverbelt, 18-12. The Orioles’ quarter back tossed touchdown passes of 31 and 25 yards and collected a one yard touchdown run.
- Max Michels, Port Edwards Football – Max Michels rushed for 156 yards and had three touchdown of 7, 50 and 2 yards, and completed 5 of 9 passes for 135 yards and two touchdowns as Port Edwards outscored Almond-Bancroft 40-30 in 8-Player Football.
- Brooks Hinson, Marshfield Football(nominated online) – In Marshfieldś 50-30 win over Eau Claire Memorial, Hinson collected 16, 15 and 51 yard touchdown receptions.
- Charlie Gierl, Medford Football – Gierl picked off three passes for the Raiders in their 40-0 win over Merrill, helping Medford improve to 3-1 on the season.
- Colton Weiler, Auburndale Football(nominated online) – Weiler rushed for 151 yards and a pair of touchdowns as Auburndale moved to 3-1 with a 42-22 win over Pittsville.
