Central Wisconsin Sunflower Field Features 120,000+ Sunflowers
AUBURNDALE, WI (OnFocus) – The Auburndale School Forest is once again full of color as over 120,000 sunflowers and zinnias are in full bloom.
The 4.5-acre sunflower field will be vibrant for about 1 more week and features several photo opportunities, including a wooden bridge, viewing platform, “big chair,” a 1952 Chevrolet truck and an Oliver 66 tractor.

“I’ve said it before, but it’s true: It’s hard to be unhappy in a sunflower field,” Auburndale FFA Adviser Mark Cournoyer told OnFocus in 2022, who coordinates the field. “With the help of community partners and Mother Nature, the Auburndale Sunflower Patch and corn maze have become a tremendous destination for community members to gather and forget the challenges for a time.”
The patch is much more than just a visual attraction, however. Donations are encouraged (there is a mailbox near the path) and will benefit the “Toys for Tots” program, which helps ensure every child gets something for Christmas.
The patch is open daily and the best time to view the sunflowers is traditionally on a sunny day in the early to late morning. This year, the sunflowers are located to the north (take the path to the right of the shelter).
