COVID-19 is causing numerous issues and concerns throughout the community and for many non-profit organizations. With the mission to assist women in life crisis through compassion and guidance in a nurturing environment, The Hannah Center currently has a full home of residents and children, and has had to adjust their operations in light of the pandemic.

baby wipes“Sadly, for the safety of our home and community – Hannah’s Caring Closet is not able to accept in kind donations at this time,” said Tricia Fancher, executive director. “We are still giving out diapers, wipes and formula to any community member in need during this crisis. However, our supply in large size diapers and baby wipes is running very low.”

Volunteers are also unable to come into the home at this time.

“We are keeping health and safety at the forefront during this time,” said Fancher. “Our office had to close as well, but community members in need to the essential items listed above can call our office to set up curbside pickup of diapers, wipes and formula. We want to be a light during this hard time for our community and continue to offer our services in the safest ways possible for everyone.”

Fancher added that the center is still assisting mothers and children in need.

“We will continue to serve our community in the best way possible during this public health  crisis, while keeping the health and safety of our home and community our main concern,” she said. “Some of our moms have been able to work from home, going on extended leave to a family member’s home that allows for this capability. Our big family is working together to entertain the children and to allow this to be a time of learning and growing as family units.”

Like many area nonprofits, financial help is most needed during this uncertain time.

“As you can imagine, being a non-profit organization funded by the community COVID-19 is greatly impacting our home’s financial status,” she said. “The biggest assistance we can get from the community right now is donations online at hannahcenter.com and becoming a monthly sponsor!

  • You can become a monthly sponsor of our home in three ways:
      • Give for LIFE – $50/month
      • Give for HOME – $100/month
      • Give for CHANGE – $200/month

Or you can become a monthly sponsor for any amount. You can also donate a one-time gift on our website.”

Those interested in donating cleaning supplies, gift cards or diapers and wipes, are encouraged to order them on Amazon and have them shipped directly to The Hannah Center, or mail them via US Postal Services.
