Baked or Fried: A Closer Look at Pacelli Coach John Schurk

OnFocus: What sports did you play in high school?

Schurk: Basketball & Track

OnFocus: How do amateur sports benefit students, parents, and the community?

Schurk:  Helps Build Goals, team work and friendships  

OnFocus: How have you been involved in sports in your adult life?

Schurk:  I have been coaching at the high school level for 15 yrs. Also many years at the youth travel ball level with my kids.

OnFocus:  What do you enjoy about your involvement in athletics?

Schurk:  I love the challenges, competitiveness and getting to  know the players/families.

OnFocus: If there could only be one concession food in the world, what would you want it to be?

Schurk:  Popcorn 

OnFocus: What would you do with the money if you won 10 millions dollars in the lottery?

Schurk:  Pay off all our expenses (including my kids expenses), put up a sports facility and invest. 

OnFocus: Is there something most people don’t know about you?

Schurk:  As a coach, there are a lot of people that  think they know about you. Lets just keep people guess.

OnFocus: What job did you want when you were growing up?

Schurk: I am many interest growing up and I am still trying to figure out what I want to do.

OnFocus: What do you most enjoy watching on television?

Schurk: The down time of not having to think about anything. 

OnFocus: Who was an influential coach that has  made a difference in your life?

Schurk:  Scott Anderson, the former logo Spash head coach. He was a great role model and I learned a lot from Scott Anderson. 

OnFocus: How do you unwind and enjoy your free time?

Schurk: Please ask me that question when I actually have time to unwind and relax. 

OnFocus: What would be an appropriate Super Hero nickname for you, and what would your powers be?

Schurk: I got nothing for this question. 

OnFocus: Who are your favorite athletes?

Schurk:  I enjoy working with all the kids that go through my program. 

OnFocus: Who is your role model(s)?

Schurk: My grandparents and parents have made a big influence in my life. 

OnFocus: Baked or Fried? If you could pick only one, which would it be?

Schurk: That really depends on the food, but mostly baked.
