WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (OnFocus) – The City of Wisconsin Rapids Police and Fire Commission has announced the appointment of Deputy Chief Benjamin Goodreau as the new Fire Chief. Chief Goodreau succeeds former Chief Todd Eckes, who retired on December 31, 2024.
Chief Goodreau brings 18 years of experience with the Wisconsin Rapids Fire Department to his new role. Having advanced to Deputy Chief in October 2024, he previously served as Battalion Chief since 2019. His qualifications include certification as a Chief Fire Officer through the Center for Public Safety Excellence, and he is currently pursuing Executive Fire Officer certification at the National Fire Academy. Chief Goodreau also holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Villanova University.
Police and Fire Commission President Bruce King praised Goodreau’s appointment, stating, “We are happy to announce Chief Goodreau’s appointment as Fire Chief. We are fortunate to have had such a strong and qualified internal candidate. This speaks well of the Fire Department and the personnel that we have. We look forward to working with Chief Goodreau to maintain the excellent emergency medical and fire services that our City currently provides.”

Chief Goodreau officially assumes his new responsibilities immediately, leading the Wisconsin Rapids Fire Department into its next chapter of service and dedication to the community.
