Berry awarded “Top Gun” of Wood County Sheriff’s Department

WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (OnFocus) – The prestigious “Top Gun” award given to the top marksman at the Wood County Sheriff’s Department was earned by Sgt. Adam Berry for the 11th time in his career.

According to a Facebook post, Berry competed against all of the sworn staff at the Sheriff’s Department in a tactical range competition course. This is an annual competition that dates back decades at the Sheriff’s Department.

Berry has worked in many different facets at the department including roles like Defense and Arrest Tactics Instructor, Tactical Response Instructor, Special Response Team Member, Field Training Officer, Field Training Coordinator, and Shift Commander. Berry was promoted to Patrol Sergeant in October of 2019.

He has also participated in DNR patrols for snowmobile and boat patrols. Aside from his duties at the Sheriff’s Department he is also an instructor at Mid-State Technical College for their Law Enforcement Academy.
