Big Plays Give Weyauwega-Fremont the Edge in Win over Spencer/Columbus

Leading 14-7 at halftime, Weyauwega-Fremont scored 14 points in both the third and fourth quarters to run past Spencer/Columbus, 42-7.

“We ran the ball very hard tonight, but we need to get better at finishing drives.  Defensively we need to prevent the big play,” shared Spencer/Columbus Head Coach Jason Gorst.

Mellander rushed for 129 yards on 22 carries.

The Rockets were outgained 423  to 341, but ran 57 plays, while W-F ran just 26 plays but connected on big plays.

W-F quarterback Kameron Zielke completed 11 of 13 throws for 262 yards and had touchdown throws of 20, 30 and 69 yards.

Sullivan Melander scored on 5 yard run in the first quarter to tie the game at 7 before W-F rolled off 35 unanswered points.
