Marshfield, WI (OnFocus) The Chaparrals will celebrate Military Appreciation Night once again during its June 26 game against the Waupaca Lakemen.
The Marshfield American Legion Post 54 Color Guard and the U-60 Black Hawk helicopter will make an appearance during the National Anthem, according to organizer Dan Rogers, Air Force veteran and member of the local Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 57. His brother Tom Rogers, a 32-year veteran of the Army National Guard, will pilot the helicopter. The helicopter is available for tours and pictures during the game.
Additionally, the Marshfield Police Department armored vehicle and possibly a Humvee/Howitzer vehicle will be on display.
Veterans can learn more about the DAV, which sponsors the event, through an informational booth that will highlight the services the nonprofit can provide them. At no cost, the DAV provides transportation to appointments, assists with benefit claims, and connects veterans with employment opportunities. Balloons for kids will be handed out from the DAV van.
The Chaps, coached by Justin Rayburn, are currently 3-1 on the season. The family-friendly home game will take place at Jack Hackman Field at 7 p.m.
