Board Navigates Modest May Meeting Agenda
STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Board of Control covered an agenda with limited number of action items at its May 19 meeting.
One of the action items addressed by the Board was the approval of the fast track nonfootball conference realignment request submitted by Cedarburg that merges the Classic Eight and North Shore Conferences in boys hockey, with the exclusion of University School of Milwaukee.
Other action items approved by the Board include the 2023 Annual Meeting transcript and the general fund statements and payments for the past four months
Among the topics reported to the Board by the executive staff is a draft of the new competitive balance and co-op timelines, preparations for the upcoming spring tournaments, continued efforts to recruit and retain licensed officials, and the 2023-24 Board of Control meeting dates.
The Board received liaison reports from John Ashley of the Wisconsin Association of School Boards and Eric Plitzuweit of the Wisconsin Athletic Directors Association.
The WIAA, as defined by its Constitution, is a voluntary, unincorporated, and nonprofit organization. The membership oversees interscholastic athletic programs for 516 senior high schools and 45 junior high/middle level schools in its membership.
