MILWAUKEE, WI (OnFocus) – Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Corbin Burnes has won the 2021 National League Cy Young Award.

The honor is given to the best pitcher in both the American League and National League. Burnes began the 2021 season striking out an MLB record 58 batters before allowing a walk. His 2021 campaign ended with an 11-5 record and a 2.43 earned run average in 167 innings.

He led the Majors in ERA, strikeout rate (35.6), strikeout-to-walk ratio (6.88), and multiple other categories.

Burnes combined with Josh Hader to throw the first no-hitter in Brewer history since Juan Nieves did it in 1987. He joins Pete Vuckovich in 1982 and Rollie Fingers in 1981 as the only Brewers to win the Cy Young Award.
