OnFocus – Marshfield native Brittany Zimmermann’s story was featured in the most recent edition of People Magazine, on newsstands now and online here.
The article, written by Chris Harris, features interviews with Brittany’s friend, Katie Hilton, and her mom, Jean Zimmermann, and highlights Brittany’s aspirations to one day work for the Centers for Disease Control in Hawaii, her love for animals, and the 2020 arrest in her murder case.
Brittany, a 21 year-old UW-Madison student majoring in Medical Microbiology and Immunology, was killed on April 2, 2008 in her downtown Madison apartment where she lived with her fiancée and their three cats in the 500 block of West Doty Street.
Each year, Brittany’s memory is kept alive through Marshfield Area Pet Shelter’s “Paws for Brittany” event, which raises funds to support local animals. The Free Roaming Cat Room at the new MAPS building is dedicated to Brittany.
