Wrestling Bio
I started my wrestling career in sixth grade for Chippewa Falls Middle School. I had a great
gym teacher who told me to go out for the sport due to my competitive nature during gym class. When I started wrestling I was the only girl in the wrestling room. That concept did not scare me away and I loved the challenge of the sport.
I continued wrestling in high school for Chippewa Falls High School. I wrestled varsity at 106lbs for most of my high school career. I was the only girl on the wrestling team. My coaches and teammates did not know how to approach having a girl wrestler. However they treated me just the same as the boys pushing me hard everyday in practice holding me to the same standards of the boys. What I took away from being the only girl on the team was you have to push harder, prove yourself everyday, and be more gritty. I was also on the Wisconsin Women’s Wrestling Federation team in high school. This consisted of wisconsin women wrestlers from all parts of wisconsin that would meet for practices, camps, and travel to bigger all girl meets. This group really improved my wrestling ability.
We trained freestyle and competed in bigger freestyle events. My senior year I competed in Fargo North Dakota for a freestyle meet with the Wisconsin Women’s wrestling team. At the Fargo event I was approached by many college coaches to continue my wrestling career. I received scholarships from many women wrestling head coaches. I signed my wrestling scholarship with the University of Jamestown (UJ) located in Jamestown, North Dakota.
In September 2015 I started wrestling for the University of Jamestown. In college I was able to win individual titles during my career. I also was awarded UJ athlete of the week. My career for Jamestown was a five year commitment. Graduated University of Jamestown May 2020 with majors in criminal justice, communication, and minor in business management.
Wrestling in college was a different environment. I started to learn more about myself and how life is a lot like wrestling. I made great memories on the mat because of my wrestling. I understand people better, teamwork, dedication, commitment, discipline, respect, and heart.
My coaching experience has included training teammates everyday at practice, training my younger sister for national meets, running practices for youth Chippewa Falls wrestlings, and hosting girls wrestling camps.
