Authorities Respond to Call of Man with Gun at Auburndale Schools, Situation Quickly Resolved

No Threat to School or Public

AUBURNDALE, WI (OnFocus) – Wood County dispatch received a call Monday morning reporting a man with a gun in the parking lot at Auburndale Schools. In response, authorities from Wood County, Marshfield Police, WI State Patrol, and Portage County were immediately dispatched to the location.

As a precaution, the Auburndale School District initiated a lockdown to ensure the safety of students and staff. According to officers on scene, Marshfield High School also went into lockdown as a precaution.

By 10:41 a.m., officers on the scene issued a stand-down after determining there was no apparent threat. The situation was resolved quickly, with no risk to the school or surrounding community. Wood County Sheriff’s Department has issued an arrest for having a firearm on school district property. Further details will be shared as they become available.
