Car Versus Semi Crash in Babcock

On Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at 7:00 a.m., the Wood County Central Dispatch received a report of a car versus semi truck accident with injuries in the village of Babcock of STH 80. When deputies arrived, it was apparent that a southbound vehicle failed to negotiate the curve and struck a northbound semi truck trailer.

The driver of the semi truck was not injured and was the only occupant in the semi. The driver of the vehicle was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extracted out by the Pittsville and Remington Fire Departments. The driver had to be flown to Marshfield Medical Center due to his injuries. He was the only occupant in the vehicle. Speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors in this crash.

Agencies that assisted the Wood County Sheriff’s Department were the Remington Fire Department, Pittsville Fire Department, Nekoosa Ambulance, and Life Link III.
