MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) – OnFocus contributor and local media personality Carrie Gillaspie featured Milwaukee Brewers Sideline Reporter Sophia Minnaert on her podcast, Candid, earlier this week.
Carrie met Sophia back in 2014 while she was an intern at WISN 12 in the sports department and Sophia was in her second year as the Brewers Sideline Reporter with Fox Sports Wisconsin.
Minnaert grew up in Madison, Wisconsin, and had a love for sports in her DNA – she’s the daughter of longtime Edgewood High School football coach, Al Minnaert.
Sophia was the recipient of the prestigious Burke Scholarship at Marquette University and graduated with degrees in journalism, literature, and Spanish. It was during her time at Marquette that she scored valuable internships with ESPN in Bristol, Connecticut, and locally with WISN 12 in the sports department.
She began her professional career for a company that live-streamed high school sports on the internet and produced Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association high school sports championship games for television.
In 2012, Minnaert was hired by Fox Sports Wisconsin (FSW) to work in their social media department. Starting in 2013, she began as an on-air sideline reporter for FSW, and in 2018 she was hired by the Brewers as their Broadcast and Digital Features Content Director.
