MARSHFIELD, WI (OnFocus) -Pi Day is a holiday celebrated annually on March 14th (3/14) to honor the mathematical constant π (pi), which is the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter. Pi is an irrational number that goes on infinitely without repeating, but is commonly approximated as 3.14.
Pi Day has been observed since 1988 and is celebrated by math enthusiasts, educators, and students around the world. It’s an opportunity to promote interest in mathematics and its applications, and to celebrate the beauty and universality of this fundamental constant.
