OnFocus – The second full week of April is designated National Animal Control Officer Appreciation Week, an appreciation week endorsed by the National Animal Care & Control Association. The City of Marshfield has two Ordinance Control officers, Bob Larsen and Kayla Wolf. Both also service as animal control for the City.
The week is designed to say thank you and to show appreciation to all the animal control officers who are dedicated to helping pets and people in the community every day.
Larsen has been in the law enforcement profession for more than 27 years, and an Ordinance Officer since 2006. Wolf joined the department after Ordinance Officer Dan Leonard retired in 2018.
Larsen and Wolf have helped lost ducklings and stranded ducks, sprinted to capture lost dogs, saved puppies from dumpsters, rescued shot cats, and educated the public on important issues including dogs in hot cars and how to handle baby wildlife. They’ve also participated in fun outreach including the Police Department Lip Sync Challenge.
If you see Larsen and Wolf this week, give them a thumbs-up and a “thanks!”.
Other ways to thank them: Pet owners, license and tag your pet. Your local animal control officer will be happy knowing regular vaccination protocols have been followed. The tag (or chip implant) will help the officer identify the animal and you, the owner.
